This is the exhibition of the work of two leading contemporary exponents of a great photographic tradition; heirs of such of their predecessors as the photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Brassaï. For this project, Timurtaş Onan from Turkey and Stanko Abadžić from Croatia collaborated and inspired from each other’s city; Onan photographed Zagreb and Abadžić photographed Istanbul. These black and white photographs produced by both artists display a shared visual language through their ways of handling light and their formal construction with emphasis on geometric details. The sensibilities of the photographers and the specific characteristics which make the cities and ways of living so distinct, are observable in the photographed details.
Timurtaş Onan – Photographer and director. Born in Istanbul. He started his work in photography in 1980. Onan has been working as a professional photographer for 25 years and participated in numerous events, published books, shot documentary films and had solo exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. www.timurtasonan.com
