Is my hope disappointed?: A Conversation with Artists Waseem Ahmad Siddiqui and Marina Papazyan
July 2 @ 18:00 - 19:30

Wednesday, July 2, 18:30
As part of the exhibition …Now! (Can I stay at your place?), on view at Depo until July 12, an online conversation will be held with artists Waseem Ahmad Siddiqui and Marina Papazyan.
If I am worried now because of some misfortune I had in the past, it is not because it happened in the past, but because it might happen again in the future. Obviously, when we look back at these transitional moments, it shows that these misfortunes will happen again in the future. This could happen at any time. The notion of systematic repetition, or the uncanny repetition of time that I am talking about now, is proleptically ‘‘anxiety’’ arising in the present. The misfortune of being stuck in the past is manifesting in the present as anxiety. This ‘‘present moment’’ is exactly when displaced people find themselves in the traumatic situation. This is a moment that ought to be recognised!
