On Tack, Limb, Ilizarov: Sibel Yardımcı and Bihter Sabanoğlu
10/10/2023 @ 18:30 - 21:00
As part of the exhibition Tack, Limb, Ilizarov, on view at Depo until 4 November, sociologist Sibel Yardımcı and writer Bihter Sabanoğlu will offer their own perspectives on the exhibition with the moderation of the curator Ceren Erdem on Tuesday, 10 October at 18:30.
Çınar Eslek’s solo exhibition Tack, Limb, Ilizarov offers various propositions on the possibilities of the body, through questions of Hayal-Et (“Chimera-Flesh”), jointing and patching, diversity and hybridity, lack and completion.
Tack/Tayet – Bone/Fabric
For Sibel Yardımcı, the exhibition Tack, Limb, Ilizarov challenges any kind of completeness as it tacks bone to fabric and fabric to street; it weaves a fragmented, shattered geography. Yardımcı will call in her (favorite) passages of text to share the currents of thought that have opened up through the exhibition, and express how she became immersed in this geography.
Basting Stitches of Caustic Fabrics, Limping Members of Patched Monsters
Based on the examples of toxic textiles in Ancient Greek tragedies, Bihter Sabanoğlu will talk about post-colonial literature’s connection to materials and the way writers such as Conrad and Marquez use organic and inorganic elements.
The talk will be held in Turkish and registration is not required to participate.
