Onur Ceritoğlu – Refüj

Under the influence of the political conflict, artistic practice extends its content to the fields of history, social and cultural studies. Under these conditions, I embark this attempt in the need of an exercise to think about political and practical meaning of producing and exhibiting a work. The tools of the exercise will be a weekly printed artist publication, Refüj.
I am proposing that Refüj is a publication that will reproduce the information that is borrowed from ‘Kiev, Moscow and Beyond – 20 years of springerin’ and ‘Bizzat Hallediniz’ exhibitions. I will occupy a room in Depo on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays during December. The door will be open for anyone who wants to participate in this exercise.
About the artist:
Onur Ceritoğlu is currently doing his PhD research in the Department of Architecture in Istanbul Technical University. His field of research is urban environment and informal structures. His artistic practice is about articulating a global city and the urban politics by using construction and demolition scrap salvaged from the urban demolitions. Further, he works on objects that participants can use and modify in private and public spaces. These works that consist of long term cooperation with the participants focus on concepts of reuse and habitation.
