22/12/2021 @ 18:30

December 22 @ 18:30

As part of the exhibition Thorn Shelter, which is on view at Depo until December 30, Nazlıcan Tahirler from DiasporaTürk will give an online talk on the representation of migration in art, through their work in the exhibition titled Passport and DiasporaTürk’s other projects.

Through their long-term engagement with the issue of emigration from Turkey, the collective research-project DiasporaTürk has reached wide audiences on social media. Their wall installation, whose main motif is workers’ passports, reveals how the workers’ relationship with the two different states’ bureaucracies, displaying the numerous phases of life and legal statuses migrant workers have gone through.

Thorn Shelter, which includes the participation of Želimir Žilnik, bi’bak, DiasporaTürk, Özlem Sarıyıldız, Semra Ertan and Cana Bilir-Meier, brings together artworks, research and poems regarding the lives of different generations of people who left Turkey and migrated to Germany, in order to work and live.

The talk will be held in Turkish and online, please register through this link:
