What is the potential of an archive in rethinking how knowledge is accessed, interpreted, and shared? This talk focuses on the work of Asia Art Archive (AAA), a Hong Kong-based nonprofit founded in 2000 with the aim to document and preserve lesser visible histories of art in Asia. Özge Ersoy, AAA Public Programmes Lead, discusses how AAA thinks about its responsibility not only to accumulate and disseminate archival collections but also to interpret them while encouraging participation and collaborative research. She asks: how do archival practices build on the current debates around publicness, usership, and citizenship?
