Where was the wall? A diary of intertwined memories

Fırat Yücel 2025,
Turkey/Netherlands, 18’

This screening brings together two video works that approach the diary form as both a personal and political space of reflection. Where was the wall? A diary of intertwined memories follows the traces—both visible and invisible—left in the city by a demolished wall, tracing a diary written in Berlin. It is a video essay that reflects on the ghosts of the city, defeat, and memory. happiness, on the other hand, is a desktop diary that moves between images of genocide and violence on screen and the impulse of collective struggle, set against the backdrop of pro-Palestine solidarity protests in Amsterdam. It reflects on the sociality of emotions and sleep, as well as the tension between screen and street. happiness was awarded Best International Short Film at the 32nd Adana Golden Boll Film Festival and is a production of Image Acts, a collaboration between Aylin Kuryel and Fırat Yücel.

Following the screenings, a short conversation will take place with the participation of Meltem Ahıska, Aylin Kuryel, and Fırat Yücel. No registration is required.
