Love, D-Mark and Death Opening and Nihan Devecioğlu Music Performance
May 8, 2026, 18:00
Following the introductory talks that outline Love, D-Mark and Death’s general framework, the exhibition’s public program will begin with a short performance by the experimental vocalist and songwriter Nihan Devecioğlu. During her performance, Devecioğlu will feature songs from her piece Yoldaş which she staged last year; the work draws on her childhood experiences and acquaintances in Munich to focus on the stories of women who settled in Germany as migrant workers.
Nihan Devecioğlu is a classically trained soprano, experimental vocalist, performer and songwriter. Freely exploring the vast boundaries of musical expression, she seeks for inspiration in sources of distinct natures: the opera, the avant-garde, early music, world music, Turkish sufi and folk and contemporary art of various forms. Her vocal versatility has led to collaborations such as Instant Opera! with Bobby McFerrin at Carnegie Hall, and performances at venues including the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Wiener Konzerthaus and festivals such as Stuttgart Music Festival, Händel Festspiele and Jazz Herbst Salzburg.
